Draft Prospect – Aaron Hernandez (TE)

With Benjamin Watson’s future unsure and only him and Chris Baker on the depth chart at TE, it is certainly possible that the Patriots might take a TE at some point in the 2010 NFL Draft. Florida TE Aaron Hernandez was a real go-to guy in their Tim Tebow-led offense. According to NFLDraftScout.com,  Hernandez is 6-2, 250 lbs, and runs a 4.62 40 yard dash. They also give him a 2nd round grade.

I’m inclined to agree with that grade. If I was gonna take a TE in the 1st, it’d be Jermaine Gresham out of Oklahoma. Both Gresham and Rob Gronkowski from Arizona are bigger than Hernandez but a little slower, so it depends what you need. I don’t like any of these three TEs as much as Brandon Pettigrew last year, the only TE taken in the 1st round. Last year 4 TEs were taken in the first 100 picks.
